According to Elias Lagus, the last meeting place of Maanselkä’s Sámi was in Kitka, about a kilometre north of Kivilahti. More specifically, on the north side of Lake Talliskotalammi. The place may also have been a place for court, since traditionally in winter villages matters were resolved, meetings and parties were held in winter.
No excavations have been done at the site, but the remains of the home’s stove have been found there.
The place became known thanks to Edvard Kivilahti.
There are also a few pits in the Kivilahti area, which have been interpreted as deer hunting pits. Another designation for these is a deer pit. The pits were covered with moss and branches. In addition, stakes carved from wood were placed upright at the bottom of the pit, to secure the catch.
