The exhibition tells the story of Kuusamo’s parish’s journey from a rigid administrative unit to a traveler alongside the parishioners. The congregation lives today, but traditions live in everyday life, objects, textiles and customs.
In the celebration exhibition of the Kuusamo parish, you can read, among other things, a letter from a youth worker from Kuusamo to his home parish, to get to know the church’s rooster, which was exchanged for a cross in the 18th century, to take a look at the contents of the church books through the exhibition board and admire the magic of the mouth-blown communion cups that have made an evacuee trip like the people of Kuusamo.
The jubilee exhibition deepens the part of Karhuntassu’s permanent exhibition, where the story of the lost church bells is told, among other things, and the miniature model of the crucifix church burned down in the fall of 1944 is introduced.
