A witch’s grave was found on the island of Iso-Pöyliö in the early 1920s. There was only a thin layer of moss on top of the grave, which was uncovered when the fishermen were making a campfire.

Drumsticks, copper rings, pieces of copper chain, bronze rings and pendants, a bronze cross and a coin from the 17th century were found in the grave. Thus, the grave can be dated to the middle of the 17th century. The burial site refers to a mighty and respected shaman.
