Tontinkallio – yet another roundabout expression for the bear
Otso, omena (an apple) and tontti (a plot of land). Places called Tontinkallio and Tontinlampi can be found in Suorajärvi.
In the past, there was a bear nest in the gorge of Tontinkallio. Tontti is one of the many circular expressions of the bear. The name of the king of the forest was not meant to be spoken, lest it would be thought that it had been called. Tontti also refers to maahinen, the elves.
Tontinlampi looks mysterious when viewed from a high cliff ledge. The landscape from Tontinkallio is one of the most beautiful in the village. The view exudes grandeur and majesty. A little down from the top is a platform of a few square meters.
