Kuusamo’s tourism was born here
Juuma is an idyllic village that can be called the birthplace of Kuusamo’s tourism. The traditions of the tourist village began at the end of the 19th century, when the residents of the village of Juuma started feeding, lodging, and transporting tourists to Finland’s Switzerland, i.e., Paanajärvi.
Today, Juuma is a pioneer in international nature tourism and serves as a year-round gateway to Oulanka National Park and Pieni Karhunkierros. Juuma is the pearl of Kuusamo.
