Kurkijoki and Soilunjoki belong to the water bodies of the Rapids Protection Act.
Both winter and summer fishing are practiced in Kurkijärvi and Soilujärvi. In summer, fishing is also done in Ylitammi, Jokilampi and Kurkijoki. The numerous ponds in the area of the Collective Forest are popular with fishermen and ice fishers.
Hyväjärvi and Raatelampi are the best waterfowl waters in the area. In the area, there are common fishing waters of the Kuolio and Purnu fisheries and the villages of Kuusamo and Metsähallitus.
