Suoperä
Suoperä estate is an authentic old-fashioned peasant house on a hill slope. There is a local heritage museum in Kuivasenvaara.
Kaivola’s house
Kuusamo’s earliest Laestadian movement began in the 1860s. Kaivola’s house in Purnuvaara was the first place where they arranged conventicles. Kaivola’s master, Kaivo-Topi, was a well-known and well-liked preacher, even to the extent that in the 1910s he went on preaching trips in Southern Finland, as far as Helsinki.
