A creative and mobile village in the armpit of Lake Kitkajärvi
Vasaraperä is a village that exudes creativity and connection with nature on the western edge of Kuusamo, on the border of Posio and Lapland. Road Kantatie 81, or Rovaniementie, runs through the village in the east-west direction.
This village has a summer theatre on the shores of Lake Kitkajärvi and Lecaperä Action – perhaps the most aptly named village’s own theatre group in Finland. The name of the village’s sports club is Vasaperän Tempaus. Instead of gymnastics, people of Vasaraperä are more interested in orienteering these days.
The village’s attractions are Naatikkajoki with its many rapids and Lake Ruoppijärvi with its high cliffs.
Kouervaara, which hides gold and cobalt, is also here.
